Paros looks small on the map, but its highlights sit on opposite corners of the island — Naoussa in the north, Golden Beach in the southeast, Lefkes in the mountainous middle, and the Antiparos ferry in the west. This Paros itinerary gives you a realistic day-by-day plan for 3, 5 or 7 days, with driving times between stops so you spend your holiday on beaches, not backtracking.
All plans assume you have wheels. Distances are short — nothing on this itinerary is more than 40 minutes' drive from anywhere else — but bus schedules will not get you to most of these places. Compact cars start at €42/day; check availability here.
Days 1–3: the essential Paros
Day 1 — Parikia and the west coast
Arrive, pick up your car at the airport or port, and ease in. Visit the 4th-century Panagia Ekatontapiliani church and wander the Kastro quarter in Parikia (2 hours is plenty). Afternoon swim at Marcello or Krios across the bay. Sunset drink on the waterfront watching the ferries.
Day 2 — Naoussa and the north
Drive to Kolymbithres (15 min from Parikia) for a morning between the granite boulders before the crowds. Lunch by the water, then continue around the bay to Monastiri beach and the Ai Giannis Detis peninsula. Evening in Naoussa: old port, backstreets, dinner at a fish taverna. Park in the big free lot above town — never try to drive into the old town itself.
Day 3 — mountain villages and the southeast
Morning drive up to Lefkes (20 min from Parikia) — coffee on the square, wander the marble lanes. Continue down through Prodromos and Marpissa to the coast. Afternoon on Golden Beach or family-friendly Logaras. Dinner in the little harbour of Piso Livadi.
Days 4–5: add the west and south
Day 4 — Antiparos day trip
Drive to Pounta (10 min from Parikia) and roll your car onto the ferry — 10 minutes across, departures every half hour in season. Morning at the famous Antiparos cave, lunch in Antiparos town, afternoon at Soros beach, and back whenever you like. Full plan: Antiparos day trip.
Day 5 — the wild south
Beach-hop the south coast: Aliki's harbour for a fish lunch, then Faragas beach (sheltered when the wind blows). On the way back, stop at the Butterfly Valley (Petaloudes) in early summer. This is the day a quad or ATV is most fun — see our quad rental guide.
Days 6–7: slow down or sail away
Day 6 — boat day or windsurf day
Either a boat trip around Antiparos and uninhabited Despotiko, or a windsurfing/kitesurfing lesson at Golden Beach or Punda. Book either a day ahead in July–August.
Day 7 — your favourites, repeated
Every Paros trip ends with a return to the best spots. Morning swim at Santa Maria, last lunch in Naoussa, souvenirs in Parikia before the ferry. If you're continuing to another island, see island hopping from Paros — Naxos, Milos, Santorini and Mykonos are all direct ferries.
Practical notes
- How many days is enough? Three days covers the icons, five is comfortable, seven means real holiday pace with a boat day.
- Where to base yourself: one base is enough — nothing is far. Compare areas in where to stay in Paros.
- When to come: this itinerary works May–October; see the month-by-month guide.
- Car or not? Days 3–5 are effectively impossible by bus. An honest breakdown: do you need a car in Paros?
Frequently asked questions
Can I do this itinerary without a car?
Days 1 and 2 mostly, yes — Parikia and Naoussa are bus-connected. The villages, the south coast and the Pounta car ferry are not realistically doable by bus. Renting a car for even 2–3 days of your stay transforms the trip.
Is 3 days in Paros enough?
Enough for Parikia, Naoussa, Kolymbithres, Lefkes and one great beach day — the island's greatest hits. You'll leave wanting the Antiparos day, which is the best argument for 4+.
Should I split my stay between two hotels?
No — driving distances are so short (Parikia to anywhere is under 40 minutes) that moving hotels costs more time than it saves.
